Description
Conference on ERTMS
Copenhagen, 16-17 April 2012
The European Commission and the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union are organising a conference in Copenhagen on 16-17 April 2012, on The European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS)
On 16-17 April 2012 the European Commission will co-host a conference on the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) along with the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Denmark is one of the first countries in the world to implement ERTMS on a national scale. Accordingly, Denmark will share its experiences of the implementation phase in order to provide best practices for future implementation in other countries. The conference will take place in Copenhagen and facilitate discussions on both a policy level and an implementational level.
The main aim of the conference will be to exchange the lessons learnt with the implementation of ERTMS in different countries. Ministers and stakeholders will also reflect on the question of the compatibility of equipment, the cost of implementation and certification of equipment and should also explore how EU financial instruments can be mobilised effectively to speed up the deployment of ERTMS in Europe.
