Objective
The European Commission is organising on 22 October 2012 in Vienna its 3rd Conference on Intelligent Transport in Europe. The objective of this high-level conference is to provide and discuss results of the ITS Action Plan and to present the status of the implementation of the ITS Directive 2010/40/EU .
Topics to be discussed
The agenda of the European Commission ITS Conference 2012 will include the following topics:
- Implementation progress in ITS Action Plan and ITS Directive
- Presentation and discussion of preliminary results on:
- Specifications under the ITS Directive
- Legal issues for ITS deployment
- European Multi-Modal journey planners
Who is expected to participate?
The ITS Conference 2012 will bring together high-level representatives from the European institutions and key stakeholders from the public and private sectors of the ITS community in the European Union.
The European Commissioner for Transport, Vice-President Siim Kallas, will open the Conference, together with representatives from the Cyprus Presidency, the European Parliament, the City of Vienna and the UNECE. The European Commission will outline the progress in the implementation of the ITS Action Plan and the ITS Directive, with detailed presentations on a number of key actions. Panellists from private and public stakeholders will comment on the achievements and further discuss the way forward.
Conference Programme and Information
The conference room will host approximately 300 delegates.
Interpretation in English and German will be provided.
Information on the event will be updated on the event website at regular intervals. The preliminary programme shall be posted and regularly updated. The final programme will be distributed at the event.
Participation to the Conference is free of charge. Travel and accommodation costs will be at the participants' expense.
Please note that the Commission ITS Conference on 22 October will be followed, in the Messezentrum Wien, by the Opening of the 19th ITS World Congress, to which all participants of the ITS Conference are kindly invited.
