Description
In light of the steadily evolving drone service market, the European Commission has taken crucial first steps to create a common framework for the safe use of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Part of these efforts is the launch of the European Network of U-space Demonstrators, a joint initiative by the European Aviation Safety Agency, SESAR Joint Undertaking, and Eurocontrol to allow large-scale demonstration projects and to further develop the so-called U-space, a system for connecting and identifying flying drones.
The network will officially be launched by Violeta Bulc, European Commissioner for Transport at the Port House in Antwerp on 19 October 2018 in cooperation with the Port Authority of Antwerp, the Belgian air navigation service provider Belgocontrol, and the U-space technology provider Unifly.
