The Single European Area (SERA) Convention is the final event concluding a series of five regional conferences dedicated to the implementation of the technical pillar of the 4th Railway Package.

While regional conferences have been of technical nature, the Convention will have a political character and focus inter alia on the railways of the future: what role will the railways have in the Transport Union and how will they respond to the challenges such as decarbonisation of transport, digitalisation, integration of rail into new business models such as mobility-as-a-service and competitiveness of rail in order to increase the modal share of rail.
