Description
Workshop
"Working in transport – where are the women?"
TRA Conference
Warsaw, Poland
ICT, automation, planning and the design of transport systems, among other key topics, offer today a larger range of job opportunities to women than ever before. New business models are emerging in sectors not yet strongly men-dominated as other more traditional transport areas. The increased involvement of women can bring a wider diversity of talents to the transport field and a broader view on innovation and future trends. Women’s skills and perceptions are key to addressing the different gender requirements that ensure equity in transport and mobility.
A larger presence of women in transport jobs is recognized to foster innovation and sustainability, as well as support economic recovery. The workshop will try to answer the main questions regarding the opportunities to increase women presence in transport sector and identify the most urgent needs for improvement.
Session Chairs:
- Maria-Cristina Marolda, European Commission (EC)
- Monika Kowalska-Sudyka, Road and Bridge Research Institute (IBDiM)
- Marta Modzelewska, Road and Bridge Research Institute (IBDiM)
The workshop will be organised in the form of a World Café, which is a simple, effective, and flexible format for hosting a group dialogue. It will host approximately 100 participants sitting at round tables. Each table will be hosted by discussion conversation leader – "table host".
