On 17 July in Brussels, Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, will host a strategic dialogue focused on accelerating the transition to zero-emission corporate fleets across the European Union.
Decarbonising road transport is essential - and urgent. For the EU to stay globally competitive, vehicle manufacturers must scale up the production of zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs), and corporate fleets are key to their uptake.
Corporate vehicles account for approximately 60% of new car registrations in the EU and the vast majority of vans, buses, coaches, and lorries. These fleets are used more intensively than private vehicles and are typically replaced more frequently, giving them outsized potential to drive rapid decarbonisation and influence the second-hand market.
The dialogue will focus on how the EU can strengthen the policy and market signals needed to accelerate this shift—through improved data and monitoring, stronger demand signals, and measures to ensure a more consistent and equitable transition across the internal market.
The event will bring together fleet operators and providers, civil society organisations, and other key stakeholders to chart a collective path toward faster, fairer fleet decarbonisation.
