On 10 June 2026, the European Commission will organise a high-level conference in Brussels to mark 20 years since the establishment of the EU Air Safety List – a cornerstone of the EU’s aviation safety policy.
The event, "20 Years of the EU Air Safety List – Building safer skies together" will bring together senior representatives from EU institutions, Member States, international aviation organisations, industry stakeholders, and partner countries. Participants will reflect on two decades of progress and discuss future priorities for global aviation safety.
The impact of the EU Air Safety List is rooted in close cooperation between the Commission, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and EU Member States. This anniversary event will highlight the value of this collaborative approach in advancing aviation safety standards worldwide and showcase how sustained joint efforts have contributed to continuous improvements in operational safety.
Additional details, including the full programme, will be published in due course.

Background
Since its introduction in 2006, the EU Air Safety List has served as a critical tool in upholding rigorous safety standards, both within the EU and worldwide. By preventing unsafe airlines from entering, operating within, or transiting EU airspace, it ensures the highest level of protection for passengers. At the same time, the List acts as an essential global reference point, providing travellers with transparent and reliable information on airlines that do not meet international safety standards.
