Axel Volkery is the Head of unit for research & innovation in the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission. The unit is, among other, in charge of policies and initiatives in the field of urban and rural mobility and transport.
Prior to joining the Commission, Axel worked in different positions in the public and private sector in Germany, Denmark and Belgium. He holds a diploma and PhD in political sciences from Free University of Berlin.
