Boosting tourism and tradition: new call for proposals to promote handicraft products and support craftsmen

The European Commission is offering a special opportunity through a call for proposals aimed at supporting craftsmen across the EU. This initiative provides financial and technical assistance to help craftsmen showcase and promote their unique traditional handicrafts and food products and in turn attract tourists to regions where said products are made.

Key opportunities include:

  • Direct Support: Craftsmen will receive direct financial aid and technical support to develop and market their products effectively.
  • Networking and Learning: The initiative includes creating a platform where craftsmen can connect, share knowledge, and collaborate on best practices. This platform also aims to encourage young talents to enter the craftsmanship field.
  • Tourism Boost: Projects are encouraged to promote tourism to regions known for handicraft production, potentially increasing sales and visibility for local products.

Eligible applicants consist of a consortium of at least six entities from three different EU countries, including business support organizations, destination management organizations, and educational institutions.

This initiative not only aims to preserve traditional skills but also seeks to enhance local economies, foster cultural heritage, bring craftsmen's work to a broader audience and boost tourism in lesser-known destinations.

The call is open until 30 September 2025, 17:00 Brussels time.
