Commission seeks views on new initiative to facilitate journey planning and ticketing

Planning and buying tickets for trips combining different means of transport or involving different operators can be difficult in the EU. This is why the European Commission is preparing a new legislative proposal on digital mobility services to facilitate journey planning and ticketing. An open public consultation was launched yesterday, seeking feedback on the upcoming proposal.

This initiative was announced in the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy and aims to address the market challenges involved in the development of digital mobility services. Ultimately, the aim is to better integrate public transport and rail services in a multimodal mix for a seamless passenger experience. Digital solutions can help make sustainable modes of transport more attractive for customers, helping the EU to deliver on its European Green Deal objectives.

The public consultation is divided into two sections: a first one, gathering views from citizens and travelers, and a second one targeting experts and relevant stakeholders. The consultation is open until 23 February 2022.
