The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport set up an informal expert group on the technical pillar of the 4th Railway Package on 5 August 2016.
The group was created to assist the Commission during the preparation of the legislative acts foreseen in the implementation of the technical pillar of the 4th Railway Package, as described in the Interoperability and Safety Directives (Directive (EU) 2016/797 and Directive (EU) 2016/798 respectively) and in the Regulation on the European Union Agency for Railways (Regulation (EU) 2016/796), as well as to assist the Commission in relation to its implementation.
The Commission is calling for applications with a view to selecting members of the group other than Member States’ authorities and organisations that are currently members of the group. The aim is to ensure that the group’s membership can in particular be extended to newly emerged stakeholder associations in the Union’s rail sector.
This call is a continuously open call with no deadline. Applications can be sent at any time throughout the existence of the group. DG MOVE shall assess applications received on a rolling basis, in light of the criteria described in chapter 4.
A first round of evaluations will be organised in January 2023. In order to be considered in the first round of evaluations, applicants must send duly signed applications by 16 December 2022, 12.00 (noon) at the latest.
