EU responds to ICAO’s consultation on CORSIA, the global market-based mechanism towards carbon neutral growth

The European Union supports the CORSIA Package Proposal sent by ICAO secretariat to States for consultation (State letter AN 1/17.14-17/129). This Package reflects the consensus achieved at the 212th ICAO Council session. The European Union welcomes progress made in implementing Assembly Resolution 39-3 and that ICAO's Global Market-Based Mechanism, CORSIA, is being put in place to start in 2019. The European Union underlines that effective rules and implementation are critical in order to ensure that CORSIA delivers on its carbon neutral growth objective.
