The European Commission is today launching a call to step up EU action for safe, clean and connected mobility. The investment is made available via the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) and supports the Commission’s priority of stimulating investment and creating jobs. The call opens financing possibilities for transport projects addressing cross-border sections and connections and the development of maritime ports within the trans-European transport Comprehensive Network, as well as the reduction of rail freight noise.
EU Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc said: "Investment in European transport infrastructure continues. Our goal is to support projects with the highest EU added-value, delivering on the EU's agenda for jobs and growth, and strengthening the social, economic and territorial cohesion of the Union. We are also tackling rail noise through the promotion of silent technologies, which improve the quality of EU citizens' lives."
Applications for funding under the call should be submitted (in electronic format only) between 8 January 2019 and 24 April 2019. The indicative call budget is €100 million. A virtual information day on the call will take place on 17 January 2019. Since 2014, 689 transport projects have already been supported under CEF with around €23 billion of EU funding.
