Call for expressions of interest to become associated member of the Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking (UPDATE April 2015)
The call for expressions of interest to become associated member of the Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking was launched on 6 October. (Ref. S2R JU/AM/01/2014 ).
The aim of the call is to identify the core partners who will work hand in hand with the Commission and the eight founding members of the Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking to deliver new technologies that will help to increase the quality, reliability and punctuality of rail services while also slashing their costs and facilitating cross-border travel.
It is a two-staged process, consisting, in the first stage, of an identification of associated members following an initial evaluation on the basis of the eligibility, exclusion and selection criteria, and, in the second stage, of an evaluation and negotiation of detailed technical proposals.
The first stage of the procedure was finalised on 31 March 2015 with a Decision of the S2R Governing Board based on the evaluation conducted by independent experts and was followed by the notification of the first-stage results to candidates and the launch of the second stage on 7 April. The deadline for the second-stage submissions is 21 May 2015. Only those candidates that have been invited to the second stage may apply.
The evaluations of submissions will be carried out by independent experts and take place from end May to early July 2015. The evaluation will be followed by consultations and negotiations between the S2R JU and individual candidates having successfully passed the evaluation. It is expected that the Commission's formal decision on the final membership of the JU should intervene in the last quarter of 2015.
