The CIVITAS Conference is the yearly event for the CIVITAS Community of close to 250 cities committed to sustainable urban mobility.

This year's edition is placed under the theme of "Sharing the city" and will explore the latest developments in urban mobility planning and implementation.

Participants come from all EU Member States plus 18 other countries from all continents, seeking to learn from the advances made in the EU.

Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc will host a special session on electrification of urban transport together with Vice-President for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic. Contributions can be made and followed on twitter @Bulc_EU #CarbonCIVITAS15 .

Commissioner Violeta Bulc said "We are definitely on our way to more livable and competitive cities, but a lot of work still needs to be done. I trust that the CIVITAS Community will help take the battle to the next level!".

She will recognize the contribution of three specific cities by giving the CIVITAS Award for Technical Innovation to Umea in Sweden, the CIVITAS Award for Public Participation to Valencia in Spain and the CIVITAS City of the Year Award to Reggio Emilia in Italy.
