Coronavirus: European agencies join forces to ensure a safe holiday season for EU travellers and transport staff

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), together with the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) and the European Agency for Railways (ERA), just published operational guidance for the safe resumption of cruises and rail transport in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. In May, the ECDC and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) issued a first set of operational guidelines for the aviation sector.

The publication of these sector-specific health safety protocols follows the Commission’s overarching guidelines on the progressive restoration of transport services and connectivity published on 13 May.

The recommendations set out in these health safety protocols will be regularly evaluated in view of the changing public health situation.
