European Commission kicks-off trainings for national authorities: how to use the Internal Market Information system for posting of drivers?

On 6 and 7 December, the European Commission organised a first series of training sessions for national authorities on the use of the Internal Market Information (IMI) System for information exchange on the posting of drivers.

IMI is a secure, multilingual online tool that facilitates the exchange of information between public authorities involved in the practical implementation of EU law. The aim of the trainings was to provide the authorities in EU Member States with a brief background on the rationale for this electronic exchange of information on posting of drivers and on the IMI system, as well as to train users that will be directly responsible for exchanging data via IMI.

These two training sessions will be followed by a training on the use of the IMI System for the information exchange on conditions of establishment in road transport (13 December) and another one on the information exchange on the driving and rest time rules in road transport (15 December).

Background

On 2 February 2022, the new rules on posting of drivers in the road transport sector will start applying. This means that Member States will have to cooperate with each other in order to control compliance with these rules in an efficient and consistent manner. To facilitate this cooperation and exchange of information on posting of drivers, they will have to use the multilingual online tool, called Internal Market Information system (IMI) that the Commission has been preparing.
