The objectives of Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/340 of 20 February 2015 are: to ensure and maintain a high and uniform level of safety, to fill gaps between safety objectives and essential requirements of the EASA basic Regulation (EC) 216/2008 and the current Commission Regulation (EU) 805/2011, to facilitate mobility of air traffic controllers, to support the integration within the Functional Airspace Blocks by the establishment of common training standards and to enhance the recognition of licences at EU level.
It establishes a clear framework for ATCO training organisations, the recognition of their certificates and the necessary synergies for aero-medical examiners and centres involved in the medical certification of pilots and air traffic controllers. It contributes to the reduction of regulatory tasks at national level.
