Anna & Yannik

Anna and Yannik are all about mindful exploration and eco-conscious travel. They trek across Europe discovering hidden gems, sometimes backpacking across multiple countries in one trip.

Yannik poses for Anna in front of the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof where they’ll take the train to Vienna. The Frankfurt am Main – Vienna route covers 598 km in less than 6.5 hours!
Did you know: the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof is a terminal station where trains enter and exit in the same direction? Because it’s a ‘bottleneck’ station where local, regional, and long-distance trains converge, Deutsche Bahn is planning a new tunnel and underground station for long-distance trains beneath the original station.

Yannik and Anna share a coffee on board the train’s restaurant, where they enjoy a scenic view.
But what would have happened had they missed a connection or their train was delayed? Anna, Yannik, and all EU rail travellers like yourself are protected by EU passenger rights. That means you may be entitled to a ticket refund, assistance with finding new routes, or other forms of compensation if things don’t go as planned!

Anna and Yannik have made it to their destination! They’ll spend the next two nights enjoying the lights of Vienna, particularly its Christmas markets at Rathausplatz and Spittelberg.
On the way home, Anna and Yannik will pass between Nuremberg and Hannover along one of the oldest and busiest German high-speed lines. Because of the high level of traffic coming down from the busy ports of Hamburg and Hannover, there are plans to upgrade this rail line.
