The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission is an important player on the digital tachograph.
The JRC is responsible:
- to operate a laboratory in charge of Interoperability Certification of the recording equipment and the tachograph cards;
- to operate and maintain a European Root Certification Authority (ECRA) for the key management of the tachograph application.
