Responsibilities

She is a professor at the Department of Urban Planning and Built Environment at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. Her research focuses on urban and community safety, with particular interest in the geography of crime, perceived safety, transit and rural crime, gender and safety, and public health dimensions of safety. She coordinates the SafePlaces (SÄKRAPLATSER) network, which promotes knowledge on crime prevention and situational conditions of crime in Sweden.

Her work includes studies on spatial crime patterns in Scandinavia, Brazil, the UK, and the Baltic countries, examining links between crime, socio-economic dynamics, and land use. Current projects explore safety as both a commodity and a public good, as well as issues such as outdoor rape locations, fear of crime in Stockholm’s underground, and safety in rural areas. She publishes regularly in leading journals in geography and criminology.
