The cost of Mobility
Room: Tête d’Or 1

The cost of mobility: Moving young and moving green
This panel will look at mobility through younger eyes. How do young people move through the EU and within European cities? What limits access to mobility? How do these barriers affect young people’s economic and social standing? And how can we improve EU transport and mobility in a way that serves the EU’s younger citizens.
As the transport sector seeks creative solutions to reduce transport emissions while ensuring that mobility remains accessible for everyone, panelists will reflect on how young people’s mobility and travel patterns are changing, how EU and local policies can and should interlink, and how digital solutions can help address the mobility challenges experienced by the EU’s younger generation. The stage will be open to young people wanting to share their thoughts and ideas, and to discuss them with EU and local decision makers.

Marketplace is a platform where young innovative companies (start-ups, SMEs) and public and private partners from across Europe can pitch their projects, meet new investors and exchange best practices. The project and pitch should present a clear link to the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) such as applications on digital and low-emission mobility, improving (road) safety and security, urban mobility and smart cities. Each pitch lasts no longer than 3 minutes, allowing for a quick Q&A by the moderator afterwards.
- 13:40 – 14:50 Session I: Urban
- 15:00 – 15:50 Session II: Research and Innovation
- 16 :00 – 17:00 Session III: Decarbonisation
- 17:10 – 18:20 Session IV: Digitalisation
Debate 1 Digitalisation Room: Amphitheatre This session should reflect on the lessons learnt so far in deploying the existing ICT systems for transport and address challenges and opportunities related to the digital transformation of the transport sector. It should also reflect on how investments in hard infrastructure can be aligned, in a systematic way, with the equipment of the vehicles/vessels and development of the digital infrastructure, and how accompanying measures will further support new technologies and services ensuring highest impact and an important stimulus for the competitiveness of the EU industry.
