Disclaimer: The information on the joint Member State call for proposals for Motorways of the Sea projects published on this website remains entirely under the responisbility of the Member States issuing the call and does in no way engage the Commission. In particular, the selection of a Motorways of the Sea project by the Member States in the framework of their joint call for proposals does in no way bind the Commission to select the project in the framework of an EC call issued under the TEN-T or Marco Polo programmes, even if this selection would lead to the provision of state aid. Conversely, selection of a Motorways of the Sea project proposal by the Member States in the framework of a joint call is a condition, for Motorways of the Sea project proposals, to receiving co-financing from the TEN-T programme.
Member State joint call for proposals for Motorways of the Sea projects in the:
- Baltic Sea Region (2009-2013)
Closing date: Project proposals can be submitted to the member states concerned at any time. However the member states concerned need approximately three months for internal evaluation. - Baltic Maritime Outlook
By presenting the current status and a forecast of the maritime transport sector in the Baltic Sea region, the study aims at contributing to an increased knowledge of the current situation of goods flows and maritime infrastructure as well as the likely future development and demand of maritime transport in the Baltic Sea region. The study targets both the intra-regional and extra-regional dimension of trade and transport. This is necessary for the further development of transport policies, infrastructure planning other joint actions in the Baltic Sea region and the development within the industry.

- Potential for Motorways of the Sea Traffic flow Phase I
The Maritime Transport Co-ordination Platform (MTCP), funded under the 6th Community Research Framework Programme, has analysed, for the purposes of setting up motorways of the sea in the Baltic, Atlantic and Mediterranean corridors, the potential for Motorways of the sea. The study gives a first rough indication of possible services and infrastructures and modal shift from road transport. The figures rely on forecast and modelling, and take traffic flows in the year 2003 as their basis.

- Potential for Motorways of the Sea Traffic flow Phase II
The Maritime Transport Co-ordination Platform (MTCP), funded under the 6th Community Research Framework Programme, has analysed, for the purposes of setting up Motorways of the Sea in the Baltic, Atlantic and Mediterranean corridors, certain impacts of establishing a number of Motorways of the sea links with pre-defined characteristics. The study provides a methodology for assessing Motorways of the Sea links based upon forecast and modelling and gives a rough indication of certain characteristics of potential possible Motorways of the Sea links.
