National implementation plan
The Romanian National Implementation Plan (NIP) was delivered in 2018. It is compliant with the ERTMS European Deployment Plan as regards the sections mentioned therein. However, no detailed information is provided on the commissioning dates of some sections (mainly sections with commissioning dates beyond 2023).
According to the Romanian NIP:
- The network will have mixed ERTMS levels; some lines will be equipped with ERTMS Level 1, such as the Bucharest – Constanța line, and others with ERTMS Level 2, such as the Buftea – Brazi line.
- Romania will remove the Class B system from the European corridor once it is fully equipped with ERTMS and placed in service.
