Welcome CINEA

Since 1 April 2021, INEA has been replaced by the new European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). This follows the approval on 12 February of the package of delegation of programmes to the six executive agencies.

With a budget of €52 billion and a new portfolio, the Agency will implement the actions needed to achieve the European Green Deal objective of attaining climate neutrality by 2050. CINEA will operate between 2021 and 2027, with more than 500 staff.

The Agency will continue to manage the CEF Transport and Energy programmes, which support the deployment of infrastructure in Europe. Transport and energy projects are helping to speed up the decarbonisation of the European economy by developing modern infrastructure and networks.

The Horizon Europe Programme will also contribute to the decarbonisation of the transport sector, funding projects that fight climate change and generally make the transport and energy sector more sustainable.

CINEA will also continue to manage the implementation of the Innovation Fund, a key instrument supporting the European Commission’s strategic vision of a climate neutral Europe by 2050.

Implementation of the LIFE programme will also come under CINEA’s responsibility, as will the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund and

two new mechanisms contributing to renewable energy and climate neutrality: the Renewable Energy Financing Mechanism and the Just Transition Mechanism for the regions most affected by the transition towards climate-neutrality.

Since 2014 the Innovation and Network Executive Agency (INEA), has implemented over 11 000 projects in the fields of transport, telecommunications and energy.
