About the Transport website

Which type of information is available?

This site offers information on transport policies. An up-to-date coverage of EU transport is also available on the policies and activities pages of Europa.

How is the site built?

Most of the pages of the Transport web site are layed out in three columns.

  • Left side column

The left side column contains three menus:

"Policy areas"

On the Transport home page, the "Policy areas" menu lists all available transport topics (European strategies, Sustainable transport, Air, Road, Road Safety, Rail, Maritime, Inland waterways, Intelligent transport system, Clean Urban Transport, Transport infrastructure, Security & Safety, Passenger rights, International relations, Research). By clicking on a specific policy area, a new menu related to that topic is displayed.

"Information"

The information menu offers information on the Press room (Rapid database) , Newsletter (the weekly newsletter published by Transport and Mobility DG), Calls for tender , Infringements , Evaluations and Statistics.

"Agencies"

This menu lists Community and Executive Agencies in the field of transport (EMSA , EASA , ERA , EACI , TEN-TEA, GSA ).

  • Right side column

The right side column contains useful links to other transport areas and quick links to other EU information web sites and tools.

Commissioner for Transport is a link to Vice-President Siim Kallas' web site.

Publications is a link to our recent publications in print. A complete list of publications on transport issues is available on the EU Bookshop web site.

Public consultations, Grants, Events, Studies and What's new are additional information on transport services (on the transport home page these topics list the services for all transport areas but in a specific policy area the information is specific to that topic.

The quick links buttons are links to various EU tools and services.

  • Centre column

The centre of the page displays the main contents part of the page.

The Transport home page and topics home pages (European strategies, Sustainable transport, Air, Road, Road Safety, Rail, Maritime, Inland waterways, Intelligent transport system, Clean Urban Transport, Transport infrastructure, Security & Safety, Passenger rights, State aid , International relations, Research) start with an introduction and if possible embedded videos. A larger selection of videos (in more languages and in additional formats) is available on the Audiovisual Service web site of the Commission .

The "Focus on" column is a list of quick links to specific topics and initiatives starting with a link to the Summaries of legislation .

The "Daily news" column is a list of the latest "What's new" announcements. On the transport home page this section also lists the latest press release on transport.
