Over 70% of EU citizens live in urban areas (cities, towns and suburbs) that generate 23% of all transport greenhouse gas emissions. To help the European Union reduce greenhouse gas emissions (by at least 55% by 2030 and by 90% by 2050), the Urban Mobility Framework initiative proposes measures to encourage EU Member States to develop urban transport systems that are safe, accessible, inclusive, affordable, smart, resilient, and emission-free.

To implement the new 2021 EU Urban Mobility Framework, a reinforced platform for dialogue and co-creation of actions was announced. The goal is stronger engagement by Member States and improved dialogue with cities, regions and stakeholders on all urban mobility issues.
Urban Mobility Days 2022 will be held on 20-22 September in the city of Brno, Czech Republic.
Commission announces 100 cities participating in EU Mission for climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030
The European Commission announced the 100 EU cities that will participate in the EU Mission for 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030, the so-called Cities Mission.
