Commission Recognises Twelve Projects for keeping Europe moving sustainably

Over 110 innovative solutions for decarbonising EU transport were submitted for the European Transport Innovation Challenge 2017.

The 12 winners of the European Transport Innovation Challenge 2017 offered solutions in a wide range of transport applications; futuristic systems for moving people and freight in cities, services for people with reduced mobility and emergency services, a robot platform, parking, railway and cycling. You can find the project descriptions below and in this brochure.

They are students, or working at start-ups or larger SMEs, aged between 18 and 35, from Sweden, Romania, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France and the UK.

The awards were presented on 19 June by Maja Bakran (Deputy-Director General of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport) at the Winners' mentoring workshop (see agenda here) held in conjunction with the European ITS Congress in Strasbourg.

Background

The European Transport Innovation Challenge 2017 is organised by the European Commission (Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport) to reward 12 young transport innovators with ideas for a cleaner and more efficient future in transport. A professional jury has selected the winners.

The 12 winners of the European Transport Innovation Challenge 2017 received a free trip to Strasbourg on 19, 20 and 21 June 2017 to follow the European ITS Congress, to participate in a dedicated mentoring workshop to meet investors and EU policy makers and to receive personal coaching.
