Handbook for Equality Mainstreaming in transport
To achieve the objectives of the European Green Deal, the EU's Digital Agenda, and the Union of Equality, the European Commission has committed to integrating an equality dimension into its initiatives in all policy areas.
In its Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy, the European Commission commits to applying equality mainstreaming to its transport policy. Equality mainstreaming aims to ensure that policies, laws, programmes and other activities are designed and implemented to benefit all and remove barriers that prevent certain groups from enjoying the same rights, opportunities and benefits as the rest of society. The ultimate objective of equality mainstreaming is to achieve equality.
To support the pursuit of this commitment, a practical handbook will help staff apply equality mainstreaming in their daily work, and to comply with their obligations to promote equality and fight discrimination as per Articles 8 and 10 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
